Our Golden Reunion: 50 Years and Still Going Strong

October 15, 2026

What an unforgettable three days! Fifty years after passing our 10th Grade, 32 classmates reunited to relive the magic of our school days. For some, it was the first meeting in five decades!

There were hugs, smiles, laughter, a few emotional moments and countless stories to share. A little grey hair and a few wrinkles may have appeared over the years, but our friendships and youthful spirits remain unchanged. Beneath the passage of time, we were still the same classmates who had once shared benches, books, secrets and dreams!

Our Golden Reunion was truly a celebration of friendship, nostalgia, music and memories to cherish forever.

Back to Where It All Began!

Returning to our beloved school was the perfect way to begin. Sitting once again on the familiar benches of our 10th-grade classroom, some beside our original benchmates, brought back a flood of precious memories. Dressed in specially designed reunion T-shirts, we enjoyed a roll call, visited the chapel and shared a lovely lunch.

We were delighted to welcome our High School Science teacher, Ms. Jesline, and express our gratitude with a hamper of healthy goodies. The presence of Sr. Dr. Vinora Superior and Joint Secretary of St. Agnes Institutions, Sr. Maria Gloria, Headmistress of St. Agnes High School (SSLC); Sr. Jennifer Moras, Headmistress of St. Agnes High School (CBSE); Sr. Venissa, Principal of St. Agnes College and Sr. Carmelrita, former Provincial Superior and former Principal of St. Agnes College, made the occasion even more special.

We were very happy as a class to contribute INR 11 lakhs towards a classroom in the new CBSE block and INR 119000 towards computers and musical band instruments for the SSLC school.

Our game, “How Well Do You Know Your Classmates?” was another hit! Cryptic clues, hilarious and surprising revelations, kept everyone scratching their heads, putting on their thinking caps, guessing and laughing. It was a heartwarming reminder of the bonds formed within those school walls. The day was a beautiful blend of nostalgia, gratitude, old memories, and renewed friendships.

Beach Bliss, Music and Masti is what followed.

Our outing to Manthan Beach Resort at Kaup, about an hour from Mangalore, was packed with fun. The 35-seater bus soon became a rolling musical party, with singing, Antakshari and laughter proving that five decades had done little to dampen our enthusiasm or silence our voices!

At the resort, with its spacious rooms and lovely sea views, we enjoyed the beach, dipped our feet in the waves, watched the setting sun and even had a few adventurous souls climb up to the lighthouse.

An impromptu photo shoot added to the excitement. Our young photographers were treated to an energetic group of enthusiastic models who posed, danced and happily played along. A special thanks to our photographers. The Evergreeners certainly proved that age is just a number!

The evening came alive with karaoke featuring our favourite hits from the fabulous ’70s. Singing, dancing and cheering continued well into the night. A special thank you to the technicians who stayed beyond their scheduled hours to keep the music playing and our feet moving!

One of the highlights was our coordinated group dance to ABBA’s Dancing Queen, followed by dancing to the lively Hindi number Gungroo Toot Gaye. We may not have been quite as nimble as in our schooldays, but our enthusiasm more than made up for it!

And then came our very own Michael Jackson tribute! Four classmates took to the floor to imitate the King of Pop to the beats of Billie Jean. The friendly competition and prize for the best impersonation had everyone cheering and laughing.

What is a celebration without a little indulgence? Delicious chocolates brought by friends from abroad and yummy Indian sweets added an extra touch of sweetness to an already delightful gathering. Fun games added to the merriment.

By the end of the evening, we had sung our hearts out, danced to our favourite tunes and laughed till our sides hurt. Who says you need to be young to party? The Evergreeners certainly know how to keep the spirit alive with a young heart, good friends, and great music!

Three Days of Friendship, Laughter and Love! That’s what our Reunion was.

As our Golden Reunion drew to a close, we returned home with hearts full of happiness and minds brimming with beautiful memories that will sure last a lifetime.

This was so much more than a reunion. It was a celebration of friendships that had stood the test of time, a chance to reconnect, share life stories, and rediscover the special bond that began half a century ago. For three magical days, the years seemed to melt away. We were no longer professionals, grandparents, homemakers, or retirees with decades of life behind us. We discovered that despite our different journeys, we still shared that familiar comfort and camaraderie that only old school friends can understand. We were simply schoolmates again – carefree, mischievous, enthusiastic, and young at heart!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who travelled from near and far, made time for the reunion, and participated so wholeheartedly. Our sincere appreciation also goes to all who planned, sponsored, organised and coordinated the activities that made this reunion such a resounding success. Every contribution and every smiling face made a difference.

Dear Evergreeners, here's to 50 years of memories, a lifetime of friendship and many more years of togetherness! May we continue to meet, laugh, sing, dance and create beautiful memories for as long as life allows.

We may be celebrating our Golden Jubilee, but our hearts are young, our spirits are evergreen, and our capacity for fun remains gloriously undiminished!

Here's to the Evergreeners – 50 years later, still young at heart, still full of mischief, and still going strong!

Until our next reunion, may the laughter continue, the friendships flourish and the memories multiply. After all, some friendships are not just for a lifetime – they are timeless!
