This is a free course on Artificial Intelligence for Senior Citizens.
Please read this without any fear or prejudice.
Knowing your age & expertise you may not understand this very easily.
If you have not understood feel free to read this page again.
I have tried to make this simple & non technical without using any Computer Jargons.
Artificial Intelligence
AI is a branch of computer science that allows machines and software to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence.
Core Capabilities
AI systems can process information and mimic human cognitive skills.
Learning: Improving performance over time by finding patterns in data.
Reasoning: Analyzing rules and data to solve problems or make decisions.
Perception: Recognizing speech, understanding natural language, and interpreting.
Where to use Artificial Intelligence:
Health & Medication: Use voice assistants like Siri or Alexa for reminders, or paste confusing medical test results and doctor’s notes into AI chatbots like ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot to get plain-language explanations
Daily Planning & Writing: Ask AI to draft emails, summarize long articles, create weekly meal plans based on leftover ingredients, or build a step-by-step travel itinerary.
Home Safety & Independence: Leverage AI-powered smart home devices, doorbell cameras that detect package deliveries, and wearable fall-detection sensors (like the Apple Watch) for peace of mind.
Social Connection & Hobbies: Use speech-to-text messaging, find local community events, or engage with conversational tools for learning and creative projects.
Artificial intelligence (AI) helps older adults simplify daily tasks, stay connected, manage health, and build digital confidence without needing technical or programming skills.
Important Safety Tips:
Watch for "Hallucinations": AI can occasionally sound completely confident while providing inaccurate or made up information. Always double check critical health, financial, or legal facts through traditional search engines or professionals.
Protect Your Privacy: Never type sensitive personal details such as your Social Security number, bank account details, or private medical records.
Spot Scams: Use AI as an extra layer of scrutiny to check suspicious emails or text messages for warning signs like urgent language or strange links.
