Art is ones reflection of inner feelings which is spread into canvass to show the layman its versatility.
The imagination is our most mysterious aspect. It connects our conscious with our subconscious. It allows us to explore our inner self and fill that urge to understand our ever changing mind and universe. It is the most important part of every one of us.
They say with each work of art that one creates, the artist gains a greater feeling of life and understanding of himself/herself, which will affect ones mind forever.
Once an artist creates an image which truly represents that emotional state of mind, the work becomes precious to the creator of that particular art.
To be an artist is to live and feel and then to express. To see things in everyday life that you usually don't see. This is important for all of us to do as much as possible everyday of our lives.. Artists live forever with their creations when the stimulating enterprise they create makes to indulge and step into various forays. No wonder the reason why so many artists have lived to such an old age.
Life is what we make of it and what we each see in it. The artists look around and always with eyes wide open to seek more creativity.
It has been said that when Rembrandt drew it was his inner spirit that pushed the pencil around. What they mean is that his drawings came from within his mind.
All art work is created from ones memory. The memory is composed of that vital moment of feeling. The original mood must be held to. When there is a picture embossed/imprinted before the artist. It needs lots of patience and focus.
Here is a brief profile of a Sharjah based lady who is talented as well as ambitious and has kept a low profile throughout her life without coming into lime light.
Beena is well known in the art circle in the UAE and is planning to hold her first solo art exhibition in October in Dubai on Colours which interest and attract her. She loves using big brushes and sweeping strokes, art lives in her. Moody skies, crisp shadows, desert sunsets, shapes, designs and textures found in nature inspire her to paint. She does art to express the joy, the inner experience that landscapes, objects and events arouse in her as an artist.
Beena Samuel was born & raised in Central India. She moved to Al Ain, UAE in 1982 & has been living in Sharjah since 1995.
She is happily married to Wilson Samuel an Aloysian. He too is an accomplished Musician and entrepreneur based in Dubai. They have two sons who are currently pursuing their education in the US.
“She paints a lot when she comes to Mangalore, she sits at the St. Aloysius college Chappel in Mangalore and keeps on admiring the paintings there and swings her brush on her pad sitting in the chapel for hours” says her proud husband Wilson.
Her educational & work background is in accountancy but her passion is art especially watercolours & silk. She enjoys watercolours because it has a mind of its own and for its transparent glazing properties.
Typically she started with a longing for landscapes. Graduated to portraits and then to abstracts & figures drawn from life. Her artworks in Watercolour & on Silk are contemporary, spontaneous & impressionistic. Beena loves watercolours for its untamable & transparent qualities and enjoys the vibrance & smoothness of silk painting. She has a passion for learning, thirst for knowledge & thrives on challenge & growth. .
She is a member of the Dubai International Art Centre & has been painting & exhibiting in the UAE for the past 10 years.
Beena has been active in the art field in Dubai for a while and she was really not coming to the limelight , on the quiet she has been doing a lot of art and she is quite active in the art circles here. she reads hundreds of books on art and is in a different level in her art knowledge. Many of her original art has been accepted by UNICIF, MSF, RASHID PAEDIATRICS, AND AL NOOR SCHOOL FOR SPECIAL NEEDS.
She says that she is fortunate in being able with her paintings to support the above charities.
Beena has held group exhibitions in the UAE (i.e. Dubai & Sharjah) since 1999. She has won several awards including the prestigious UAE Watercolour Challenge in 2003 judged by Professor Peter Wheeler, Dean, College Of Fine Arts, Sharjah and the well known New Zealand Artist, Gaynor Mulholland.
Her art education consisted primarily of keen observation, many books & thousands of hours at painting. Although she considers herself mostly self- taught, in that she has no formal art education since high school, however she has enjoyed wonderful inspiring workshops with many great artists residing in the UAE & Abroad.
Lately she has been teaching watercolour & silk painting at the Sharjah Ladies Club & Sharjah Higher Colleges of Technology – Women’s College. Also Currently she conducts workshops in Creative Watercolour & Silk Painting at the Dubai International Art Centre.
