A River
I flow with speed and grace
Out unto the sea.
Yonder from the mighty mountains I trace,
My path that is to be.
There are many beautiful things
That live near me, a river.
The colourful birds with feathered wings,
And the dainty flowers around trees that do not waver.
A deer here and a fox there
You see many a creature around me.
A crocodile always to be found where,
The imperial stag drinks on bended knee.
All through my winding course
I go past many a sight.
Best of all the place where I make myself hoarse,
The splendid waterfalls, shimmering in the light.
But past these wonders comes the pollution
The outcome of which I fear.
Toxic wastes emptied without consideration,
I dread the condition of all the animals near.
The first to fall were the little fish
Followed by the plants around me.
But for all that I could hope and wish,
I couldn't turn away from the thundering sea.
Life for me goes on and on
I flow along the eternal path.
From dawn to dusk and dusk to dawn,
I flow along the eternal path.
