6 thin slices of bread, buttered and crusts removed
½ cup raisins
2 eggs
3 tbsp sugar
600 ml milk
1 tsp grated lemon rind (optional)
½ tsp nutmeg powder

Cut bread slices into quarters and layer in a greased pie dish sprinkling raisins in between each layer. Beat eggs with sugar, warm the milk with the lemon rind and stir into the eggs. Mix well. Pour into pie dish. Keep aside for 30 minutes. Sprinkle top lightly with nutmeg powder and bake in a moderate oven for 30 to 40 minutes or until set and top is lightly browned.
