Recipes - Masala Fried Pomfret


2 medium pomfrets
6-8 long red chillies
6 flakes garlic
6 pepper corns
½ tsp. cumin
2 seeds tamarind
2-3 tbsp. vinegar
2 tsp. sugar
Oil for frying
2 sprigs curry leaves
Banana leaf (optional)


Clean and slit fish from both sides. Grind chillies, garlic, pepper, cumin n tamarind adding sugar , salt and vinegar. Apply this paste inside the fish pockets and all over. Set aside for at least 15 minutes. Heat a pan and grease it with oil. Place a banana leaf and sprinkle little oil. Place fish on the leaf along with curry leaves. Drizzle little oil on top. Fry fish from both the sides on slow flame.

You may even fry without banana leaf using sufficient oil.
