Udupi: Money Generated Through Temples to be Ploughed Back – Dr Acharya

Udupi, Apr 25: “Religious centres herald the level of development and progress of the land. The state government is mulling over the practicability of implementing a scheme envisaging ploughing back of funds generated through temples under muzrai department for the development of temples and other religious centres,” said state muzrai and higher education minister, Dr V S Acharya.

He was speaking after presiding over a religious meet organized on Sunday April 25 at Mudumbi Tantri Nivas near Kaup in the district. The programme was part of the reconsecration and Brahmakalashotsava of the newly built Naga Moolasthana, oblation hall, and Sri Sheshadri Tower. Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejavar Mutt, who inaugurated the religious meet, gave full credit to the devotion to the serpent god and worship of gods and Daivas that are prevalent in the coast, saying that environment conservation has been achieved to some extent because of these traditions.

MP, D V Sadanand Gowda, Kaup MLA, Lalaji R Mendon, and a number of other dignitaries participated as chief guests. Several Purohits including Vedamurty Ramachandra Acharya, astrologer and Tantragama expert, Vedamurty Gopal Acharya, were felicitated on the occasion.

Ganapati Tantri, secretary of Brahmakalashotsava Samiti, welcomed. Treasurer, Jalanchar Raghupati Tantri, proposed the vote of thanks. Shivanna Bayar and Prabhat Shetty presented the programme.
