Bengaluru, Oct 10: Major changes are in the offing in the engineering courses by December, Higher Education Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan said on Monday.

Participating in a programme at the East West Engineering College in collaboration with Ethnotic Academy in Bengaluru, he said the process of effecting changes in the engineering courses was presently underway.

The learning and teaching methods in the State’s government colleges was presently being digitised. This will be extended to all private colleges shortly, he said.

The minister said unprecedented reforms and changes are being done in the State’s higher education sector. The higher education institutions are being tied up with industries as part of the process to create and nurture the spirit of entrepreneurship among students.

Dr Narayan said the administration of engineering colleges, curriculum and internship is being totally transformed. Payment of stipends to students undergoing internships has been made mandatory, he said.’

``Empowerment of society is possible only with quality education,’’ he said advocating the need to think globally instead of confining to restricted silos. Inculcating the spirit of competitiveness in the students is necessary to ensure that opportunities are not wasted or denied, he said.

Adichunchanagiri Mutt pontiff Sri Nirmalananda Swamiji, BGS and SJB Group Institutions and Hospital Managing Director Dr Prakashanath Swamiji, East West Education Group President Rashmi Ravishankar, NAAC Director Dr Shyamsundar, Ethotic Academy Chief Kiran Rajanna and East West Educational Institutions Secretary Tejas Kiran were among the dignitaries present.
