Madikeri: Death of Siblings in Road Accident – Murder Alleged

Madikeri, May 3: Two brothers died in a road accident that occurred as Masagodu village in Somwarpet taluk of the district on Monday May 2. The brother of the deceased has, in a complaint filed with the policemen, alleged that it was a pre-planned murder.

Shiji (30), and Shibu (28), sons of Bharat from Adinadoor village, had died after the scooty they were travelling in, was knocked down by a Tata Sumo vehicle. While Shiji died on the spot, Shibu had died at a hospital some time later. The Sumo hit the two-wheeler that coming from the opposite direction, and had climbed a roadside mud wall before coming to a stop thereafter. While the scooty was crushed, those in the four-wheeler had gone missing.

The complainant has alleged that V M Vijaya from Adinadoor, T M Chandra from Kudige, V M Prabhakar, G S Prasad, G V Sheyas and two other unidentified persons from Hosalli village, had purposefully hit the two-wheeler. He claimed that these persons had also bludgeoned the two brothers with iron rods to death thereafter.

In connection with the murder of a youth from Kudige village last year, Shiji, Shibu, another brother of theirs, and their father, Bharat, had been named as accused. Locals feel that the brothers would have been slain in the backdrop of the earlier murder.
