Islamabad, May 13 (IANS) At least 68 people were killed and over 80 were injured Friday in twin suicide bombings at a paramilitary training centre in Pakistan's Charsadda city, a media report said.

The massive bombings took place at the main gate of the Frontier Corps training center when troopers were on their way back after morning exercises in Charsadda city, some 30 km northeast of Peshawar in northwestern Pakistan, Xinhua reported citing local media reports.

Nisar Khan, a police officer, said the blasts had killed 68 people and injured some 80 and the toll could rise further.

Some of the injured had been shifted to a hospital in Peshawar.

The attack took place at about 6.10 a.m. time when a motorcycle and a horse cart, both laden with explosives, targetted the Frontier Corps training center in the Shabqadar area of the city.

Over 15 shops and a number of vehicles were destroyed in the deafening blasts.

No group has, as yet, claimed the responsibility for the attack.

The terror strike is the most serious in Pakistan since the killing of Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden by the US commandos in Abbottabad May 2.

Both Al Qaida and Pakistan Taliban have vowed to avenge Osama's death by threatening to launch attacks in Pakistan as well as in other parts of the world.
