Freight Rates Down on Restricted Cargo Movements


New Delhi, May 14 (PTI) Freight rates for 10-tonne pay load section dropped by Rs 1,000 in the local truck transport market today, following less movements of cargo amid heavy positions of trucks.

Transporters said restricted cargo movements against easy availability of trucks, put pressure on the freight rates.

Delhi to Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata freight rates fell by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 20,000, Rs 45,000 and Rs 23,000, respectively.

Rates to Coimbatore, Kochi and Goa also fell by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 51,000, Rs 53,000 and Rs 36,000.

Patna, Thiruvananthapuram and Pune rates declined by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 20,000, Rs 61,000 and Rs 22,000, respectively.
