Bantwal, Nov 19: “Grama Vastavya programme is excellent for the villagers to directly say their issues to the officials. The people should make the most of the opportunity,” said Bantwal tahsildar Dr Smita Ramu.

Speaking after inaugurating the Grama Vastavya programme held at Dakshina Kannada district panchayat higher primary school, Peraje near Mani on Saturday, she said that many people do not know how to obtain government facilities. “They have to return sometimes from the offices for want of documents. The department listens to the issues of the people here and provides necessary information,” she said.

Gram panchayat president Rohini presided over the programme. Taluk health officer Ashok Kumar Rai, infant welfare project officer Usha, block education officer Jnanesh, panchayat development officer Sunil Kumar, deputy tahsildar Navin Kumar, Vijaya, Vikrama, Gretta and Narendranath Mithur were present.

Village accountant Vaishali welcomed, and Kritika rendered a vote of thanks. Mani Peraje grama village accountant Anil Kumar compered the programme. 44 applications were received in the Grama Vastavya and 16 of them were disposed.

The tahsildar inspected the scheduled caste colony of Peraje grama, Sadikukku and Madala Anganwadi centres and 94C sites in the afternoon.
