Udupi, Nov 19: A house constructed by Jamath E Hind Hoode organization for poor Dalit woman Shubhalaxmi, resident of Paduthonse – Gujjarabettu was handed over in a simple programme today.

Dr Shahnawaz who handed over the key symbolically said that donating a house to poor families is a commendable noble work. “The organization has helped people during Covid pandemic, is providing necessary tools for self-employment and indulging in social work in various ways.”

Another guest Narayana Manoor said that they have responded to the pains in the society earlier but have seen the other face of the campaign here. “The Jamaat E Hind Hoode has shown how we can respond to the pain. Wiping the tears in the society across religions is a campaign by itself. Out of 33 houses constructed for the poor by the organization, five were donated to Dalits,” he said.

Thonse Hoode Jamath E Hind president Abdul Khader who presided over the programme said that it is their religious compulsion to respond to pain. “It is not right to remain indifferent when our neighbours are struggling for food, shelter and other necessities,” he said.

Islamic welfare society, Udupi’s Janab Riaz Ahmed Kukkikatte Thonse, panchayat secretary Dinaker Bengre, Sathish Malpe and panchayat member Suzan D’ Souza spoke.
