Melbourne, May 18 (IANS) The dispute over players' payment in Cricket Australia (CA) may finally end as a new pay contract could be agreed as early as next week.
Australian Cricketers' Association (ACA) chief executive Paul Marsh said the stand-off, since the end of the World Cup, had finally abated. A formal meeting between the parties is scheduled for next week.
"If you go back to the last two (memorandums of understanding), we were frantically negotiating during the same period (before their expiry)," Marsh was quoted as saying by The Age.
"CA chief executive James Sutherland and I have been talking informally over the past few weeks about how we can move forward, and I think we're pretty close to finding a way forward," he said.
The stand-off has also prevented CA confirming which 25 players will hold the lucrative elite contracts for the coming season.
