Rahul slams Centre on Agniveer scheme, says Haryana now champion in unemployment

Panipat, Jan 6 (IANS): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday lashed out at the Central government over the Agniveer Scheme and said Haryana has become a "champion in unemployment with no jobs for youth".

Addressing a rally in Haryana's Panipat during his Bharat Jodo Yatra, he said that earlier a soldier used to serve the country for 15 years and proper training was imparted and retirement benefits were given but now after 5 years he will be unemployed.

He said Panipat was once a hub of medium manufacturers, but now the situation has changed. "Due to demonetisation, GST, which were not policies, but weapons to destroy small and medium enterprises," said Gandhi.

The Congress leader alleged that the country's wealth was held by 200 to 300 people.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra is in Haryana currently and will move to Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and end in Jammu and Kashmir.

    BJP govt is creating more unemployment than estimated earlier. This will definitely create more chaos and civil unrest in the country. Without full employment there is no $ 5 Tr economy. It just can not happen out of thin air and holding meetings without blue collar man power contributing to economic growth. Creation of more banks is the initial sign of financial growth Vs present merging of banks is the sign of negative growth. MSME are back bone of the economy have systematically been destroyed by govt for not supporting. There is no significant inflow of FDI due to political instability, law and order situation in the country and lack of infrastructure investment by the govt. Exports have dwindled which has contributed to weaker rupee and higher inflation. When people go hungry without shelter with backs to the wall then nothing matters to take the extreme step as a last resort anyway.
