Beltangady, Jan 8: The town police arrested two men, main accused in the sexual harassment and impregnation of a girl from Koppadangadi in Kadirudyavara village in the taluk. The girl was also forced to abort the fetus.
Manohara (23), a resident of Koppadangadi and Madhava (30) alias Madhu of Konaje in Mangaluru are the arrested accused.
The victim girl used to go to her neighbour Sudhir’s house on Sundays and holidays to watch TV. Sudhir used to take her to his grandmother’s house, which was nearby and sexually harass her. This continued for one year. The girl cooperated as Sudhir threatened her with dire consequences.
When the girl got pregnant, Sudhir, along with Manohara and Madhava, got her abortion done in a hospital.
The Beltangady police received the information from Childline on December 30. After counselling the victim at Prajna Counselling Centre at Moodbidri, a POCSO case was filed against four persons.
Now the Beltangady police have arrested two of the four accused and the hunt is on for the other two absconding accused.
