Udupi, Feb 14: "Four persons have been arrested in connection with the Sharath Shetty murder case that occured in Pangala on February 5,” said Hakay Akshay Machindra, Superintendent of Police Udupi district.
Speaking with media about the case, he said, “Four persons had murdered Sharath Shetty using weapons on February 5. There were no eye witnesses. But with the expertise of our teams we cracked this case and four persons have been arrested and two of them have been produced before the court. Two more persons will be produced before court tomorrow. The prime accused is still absconding and search is underway for him. The prime accused and the victim were good friends in the past but due to a personal rivalry they were separated. Both of them were accused in a brawl case in December in Kaup police station limits. Four persons were hired from Mangaluru city to carry out the murder among whom four of them have been arrested as of now. A 6-member core team was formed for the investigation immediately after the incident. Mobile phones, footwear, weapons and few other items were recovered from the incident spot. We have identified the person who financed this crime but more information will be gathered once the prime accused gets caught,” he said.
“Few internet calls were also done for the planning and execution of this murder. I can’t disclose the details of the arrested persons. The act happened due to an internal rivalry. Two more prime persons in relation to this case have to be arrested” he added.
The arrested have been identified as Dinesh (20) and Likhith (21) of Surathkal. Both of them have been produced before the court and have been under one week police custody. Akash and Prasanna have also been arrested and will be produced in court on Wednesday, February 15.
