Mangaluru, Feb 18: Bethany Lay Associates (BLA) Convention was held at Sacred Hearts’ Primary Hall, Kulshekar. Sr Cicilia Mendonca BS, the provincial superior of Bethany Sisters, Mangalore Province presided over the Programme.
In her speech, she invited the BLA members to be rooted in Christ and to follow the Bethany Spirituality. She gave some tips to make prayer as the fountain of life to draw spiritual strength for their lives. She appreciated their regular BLA meetings held in their respective units and their zeal to carry on the mission of Christ through Bethany spirituality and charism.
Later Fr Rocky D’Cunha the superior of St Ann’s Friary, Jail Road exhorted on Bethany Spirituality and family mission. He gave them the practical tips to live the Spirituality and inculcate Gospel values in their lives.
Sr Jessy Rita from Santa Cruz Convent, Kulshekar conducted a quiz based on Old and New Testament. Four women such as Molly Miranda, Mary Fernandes, Daisy, and Jessy Nazareth shared their life experiences.
There was cultural programme from four BLA units such as Vamanjoor, Badyar, Kulshekar and Mulki. They enacted skit, tableau and songs. Three spot games were conducted and winners were awarded with prizes. Sr Roshel, Sr Shubha, and Sr Lilly Pereira, the provincial councilors, Sr Ida Janet, the superior of Santa Cruz Convent, Kulshekar and Dulcine Sequeira were present on the dais.
Sr Anna Maria, the coordinator for BLA at the province level welcomed the gathering. Sr Herita Monthi, the superior of St Joseph’s Convent, Suralpady compered the day’s programme. Norbert Sequeira from Kaikamba expressed words of gratitude.
The fellowship meal was served on the occasion. Sr Suma BS prayed the grace before meals. There were 150 participants along with BLA animators participated in the celebration.
