BCCI Won't Budge from its Stand on SLPL

Daijiworld Media Network

Kolkata, Jun 21: Indian players will not be allowed to play in the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) as the BCCI is adamant that its players participate only in tournaments organised by the cricket board of a country.

SLPL's tickets are being sold by a Singapore-based company and not by the Sri Lanka cricket board, which makes it a private tournament.

BCCI president Shashank Manohar has reiterated that the BCCI will not change its stand on the issue. On the IPL, he said that the International Management Group works on the administrative front on behalf of BCCI and thus IPL is not a private entity.

SLPL, which begins next month, has roped in as many as 12 Indian players including Munaf Patel, but they are yet to get the green signal from the BCCI.
