Mumbai, Jul 28: Comedian Samay Raina has taken a humorous swipe at the box-office performance of Alpha during the latest episode of India's Got Latent Season 2, months after the film's lead stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari appeared on the show to promote it.

The members-only episode featured actors Raghav Juyal and Niharika NM, who were promoting their film Bhai Tera Star Hai. During the conversation, Samay teased Raghav for repeatedly mentioning the film's title, saying, "How many times will you have to tell people about your own film? What kind of star are you?"

Responding in jest, Raghav remarked that Alia Bhatt had also promoted her own film. Samay then quipped, "That didn't work for her film either," drawing laughter from the panel.

Earlier, Samay had organised a special screening of Alpha by booking an entire theatre and distributing tickets to fans. After the show, he video-called Alia Bhatt and told her that the audience had enjoyed the film.

Directed by Aditya Rawal, Alpha is the first female-led film in the YRF Spy Universe. Starring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol, the action thriller revolves around two elite agents on a mission linked to national security.

Despite high expectations, Alpha underperformed at the box office, earning Rs 98.83 crore worldwide, including Rs 58.62 crore in India. The film received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics and audiences, while a cameo by Hrithik Roshan also generated divided reactions.

Alpha is the seventh film in the YRF Spy Universe, following Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3 and War 2.

India's Got Latent had earlier courted controversy after remarks made by podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia during the first season triggered widespread criticism, prompting the removal of all episodes from YouTube. Samay announced the show's second season during his stand-up special Still Alive, and it is now streaming on YouTube and Netflix.
