Mumbai, Jun 30: Director Ram Gopal Verma has denied reports that his upcoming movie 'Not a Love Story' is specifically based on the Neeraj Grover murder case. However, he does admit that it has been 'inspired' by the crime.

He has also said that film is not 'biopic' and does not chronicle Maria Susairaj's real life.

"The characters are imaginative and I wanted to show the state-of-mind or the emotion that might have driven them to do such a crime," RGV said.

Speaking to reporters at the first look of the film here at Cinemax Versova, he said that the story revolves around two ordinary people, and the girl in the movie is simple, unlike Susairaj. The movie explores the psychology behind the act of murder, and how bizarre murders can be committed by ordinary people, he said.

Nevertheless, the tagline of the film is a direct indication that the movie is based on Grover's murder. It reads: "In the summer of 2008, two lovers killed a man, had sex in front of the body, cut it into pieces, packed it in a shopping bag and disposed it"

And like in Grover's case, the victim's body in the movie too is cut into pieces and burnt in a forest by a couple.

Grover was stabbed to death by Maria Susairaj's boyfriend Emile Jerome in her flat on May 7, 2008. Maria was absolved of murder but convicted on charges of destroying evidence, while Jerome was held guilty of killing Grover in a fit of rage.
