Cricket: Brave Bravo, Bad Light Spoil Indian Party

Kingston, Jul 3: India was inches away from a famous victory against West Indies in the second test, when bad light forced to stop play on the penultimate day of the test.

Chasing 281 runs for the victory, the West Indies start was shaky, but Darren Bravo, who batted brilliantly, saved the match for his team, scoring 73 not out.

When India declared the second innings at 269 for 6, West Indies had 83 overs to bat and  281 runs to win. In the first session, Windies lost two quick wickets, and thereafter it was not easy to chase the target.

India could have batted much faster to get some more bowling in. Except Ishant Sharma, no bowler made any mark. Ishant's 4-53 earned him 10 wickets in the match for 108 runs.

Earlier during the morning session VVS Laxman once again missed an opportunity to score a century, as he departed to the pavillion for 87. None of the other batsmen could bat aggressively to add quick runs to the total.

India is already 1-0 ahead in the three-test series. The third and final match will begin at Roseau, Dominica, on July 6.
