Beltangady: Two arrested for sexually harassing minor girl

Beltangady, Jun 20: A case under POCSO is filed on the auto-rickshaw driver and one more person on the accusation of trying to outrage the modesty of a teenage girl by taking her forcefully in the auto-rickshaw at Neroldapalke of Bandaaru village.

Auto-rickshaw driver Sadiq and local resident Kareem are arrested by the police. They were produced in the court and sent 15 days of judicial custody.

On June 18, the 17-year-old victim girl was walking towards self-help group association to pay the instalment of loan taken by her mother. Kareem, who is known to the family of the victim girl and auto driver Sadiq tried to misuse their familiarity with the family of the girl by trying to sexually harass her.

Kareem gave Rs 200 to the victim girl and enticed her to come to Beltangady with him in the auto-rickshaw and also molested her. The victim girl opposed his advances and jumped out of the auto-rickshaw. She received injuries on her hands and legs. The accused had fled from the spot after the girl jumped out of the vehicle.

The accused were arrested based on the complaint filed by the victim girl to Dharmasthala police station.
