Udupi, Jun 20: Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake accused that PM Modi, who has denied supplying rice to Anna Bhagya scheme, of troubling economically poor people.

Sorake was speaking at the protest meeting that was organized by the district Congress condemning the anti-poor policy and hate politics of union government of the BJP.

Sorake said, “The BJP was criticising whether Congress is going to implement the five guarantees that they promised to the people of Karnataka during the election campaigning. We have announced the guarantees on the first day of forming the government. On the second day, the date lines were fixed for implementation of the schemes. We are following what we have preached.

“Nadda said that Karnataka will not get any cooperation from the union government if the BJP gets defeated in the state. We have brought out Anna Bhagya scheme in order to prevent anyone in Karnataka suffering from hunger. On June 12, FCI assured of providing 288425 metric tonne of rice for the month of July. However, they wrote a letter later and said rice and wheat cannot be given now. This is clear example that the BJP is playing hate politics and making the poor people of Karnataka suffer. The union government which has lac of tonnes of rice to provide for the Taliban government of Afghanistan, does not have rice to give to the poor people of Karnataka. This is a clear plot hatched to prevent the Anna Bhagya scheme of the Congress government.”

Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, Prakhyath Shetty, Ramesh Kanchan, Prasad Raj Kanchan, Molahalli Dinesh Hegde, Muniyalu Udaya Shetty, Prashant Poojary, Geetha Wagle, Vishwas Amin, Prashant Jattanna, Harish Kini, Krishnamurthy Acharya, Deepak Kotian, Saurabh Ballal and Yathish Karkera were present.

Government is ready to pay ₹36per kg of rice to FCI/center, But they are not giving. Why not give ₹300 per person and save the government ₹60 per person. Also all the trouble of going to the ration shop + carrying 40kg rice. Vehicle required. Then complaining about quality of rice. Etc. Etc. Money goes direct to ration-card holders account. Every one sleeps peacefully every night.
