Kundapur, Jun 21: Hundreds of school and college students and residents of Badakere, Hadavu village and Konki area in Nada gram panchayat (GP) limits are struggling to commute due to lack of private and KSRTC bus facilities. DYFI Padukone unit and Akhila Bharata Janavadi Mahila Sangatane, Byndoor held protests in front of Nada gram panchayat urging for urgent KSRTC bus facilities in those places.

DYFI state president Munir Katipalla addressing the protesters said that the number of government buses is less in the coastal districts due to the monopoly of private buses. “We are not against private buses but urging for government buses is our right. If our demand is not met, we will be sitting in front of KSRTC divisional office in Mangaluru in protest,” he warned.

“The protests that began will spread to Haklady, Gulvady and other villages of Kundapur till the bus services are provided,” said CPIM district secretary Suresh Kallagar.

DYFI Padukone unit president Nagaraja Kuru, Raju Padukone, Rajesh Padukone, Venkatesh Koni, Nagarathna Nada, Sheelavathi, Susheela Nada, gram panchayat member Shobha and others were present.

The protesters also urged for bus stop for all the KSRTC buses near Maharaja swamy temple of Maravanthe grama and repairs to the road passing through the temple to the highway.
