Mangaluru: Celebrating the Feast of St Aloysius Gonzaga - A day of Inspiration and rememberance

Mangaluru, Jun 21: On the auspicious occasion of the feast of St Aloysius Gonzaga, the patron saint of students and youth, the school community gathered together to honour and celebrate his life and teachings.

The day commenced with a solemn mass offered by the correspondent Fr John Dsouza S J . Thereafter the students of 7th class conducted a beautiful programme filled with festive atmosphere.

A prayer song was rendered by the students, followed by a welcome speech by Saanvi Lobo. They also gave a brief glimps of the life of the patron. Though rich he went against his father's wish to join the society of Jesus. He worked with plague affected people and gradually succumbed to it at the age of 23.

A joyful festive song kept the audience tapping their feet. Chief guest of the day, Winson D’Souza, was introduced to the gathering by teacher Irene Pais. Winson D’Souza, an alumni cherished the sweet memories of his school days. He recounted his personal journey and how the values of St Aloysius Gonzaga shaped his life and career. He called upon the students to do more for the less fortunate. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions held on June 14.

A thought provoking drama further offered a glimpse into the life of the patron inspiring students to emulate his compassion and unwavering faith. The drama ended with the hymn, "Whatsoever you do."

Following the drama, a dance by the students to a hindi song captivated the audience. Arjun and Ashwini proposed a vote of thanks. 

The programme concluded with the school anthem. A festive meal was served to all.
