Mangaluru, Jun 22: A man, who is the step father of minor girl, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting the victim girl, while his wife was not at home.
According to details accused Ashwath is the second husband of Mallika alias Rajivi. Mallika has a minor daughter from her first husband. When Mallika had gone for delivery, accused Ashwath sexually assaulted his step daughter at around 3.30 am on July 26, 2022. He also threatened the girl of killing her if the act is disclosed to anyone.
The victim girl confided the matter with her aunt Mamata, who duly filed complaint at women police station of the city under POCSO.
The court which took up the inquiry sentenced Ashwath to 20 years in prison on June 21, 2023. SI Lokesh A C of women police station filed chargesheet in the court.
