Mangaluru, Jun 24: The government has asked all universities to begin first degree classes of present academic year from July 17. However, Mangalore University decided to postpone the same to August 14 due to shortage of classrooms as the semester examinations will be held during mid-July.

Second, fourth and sixth semester examinations of Mangalore university are going to be held between July 18 and August 10. Hence, the beginning of new degree classes may result in shortage of classrooms. Hence, the university held special meeting with the college principal of Mangalore University College on Friday and decided to postpone the first degree classes beginning to August 14.

Prof Jayaraj Amin, acting vice chancellor of the university said, “Government has taken out order to begin first degree classes from July 17 throughout the state. But the principal brought to our notice that it will be difficult as the semester exams will be held during the same period. Hence it is decided that the first degree classes will begin on August 14.”
