Allahabad, Jul 27: One-year-old Akshat Saxena from Uttar Pradesh is a new world record holder.

Akshat easily gained an entry into the Guiness Book of World Records being born with 34 fingers and toes.

A spokesman for Guiness world record said that Akshat had seven fingers on each hand and ten toes on each foot.

The boy’s condition is known as polydactyly which is a genetic disorder. A series of surgeries have also been performed on the boy since he was born to remove the extra fingers. Doctors are trying to figure out a way to provide him thumbs.

Akshat's mother Amrita Saxena said, "I was so happy to see our baby as it was our first child, but later, when I saw his fingers I was shocked and surprised. A friend had read on the internet about a baby born in China with 31 fingers, later, he along with my husband and my younger sister registered our data on the Internet," she added.

The earlier record holder was a 6-yr-old boy from China who had 15 fingers and 16 toes.
