Kundapur: Gundrikalu foot-bridge at Amasebailu posing danger

Daijiworld Media Network – Kundapur (MS)

Kundapur, Jul 17: Residents of Gundri in Mandadi under the limits of Amasebailu gram panchayat on the plateau of Malnad region are risking their lives of crossing wooden foot-bridge during monsoon.

In the village which has 60 to 65 houses most are depended on agriculture work. More than 30 children of the village go to Amasebailu and other places for education. All the needs of the villagers are fulfilled by other villages or towns.

The villagers have to cross the foot-bridge in order to reach gram panchayat centre at Amasebailu, Mandadi, Rattadi and Macchaatu villages. The rain water that accumulates from nearby areas reaches river through Gundri storm water drain.

During monsoon the force of water will be too high and there is danger of slipping while walking on the foot-bridge. The plight of students crossing the foot-bridge with loaded school bags is really tragic.

The demand for a permanent small bridge on Gundri drain by the villagers has fallen on deaf ears for years together. People representatives are not giving any heed to the request of villagers.

The local residents know that building a minor bridge with the limited resources of gram panchayat is difficult. Local administration has to pressurize people representatives and officials for the project to materialize.
