Mangalore, Aug 3: Union Bank of India opened its new branch at Mallikatte, on Wednesday August 3. It's the bank's 134th branch in Karnataka and 3,044th branch in India. The ATM kiosk opened at Mallikatte is the 141st in Karnataka. With this, the Bank also touches the 2,700 ATM mark in the country.

M V Nair, chairman and managing director (CMD), inaugurated the new branch here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Nair said that the Bank will open 30 branches and 120 ATMs in Karnataka during the current financial year. "The new branches will include three financial inclusion branches. These branches will promote financial inclusion, supervise around 20 business correspondents (BCs) each, and act as a customer grievances point," said Nair.

"The Bank proposes to open its regional Office (RO) in Mangalore in the fourth quarter of the current fiscal. This will be the Bank's third RO in Karnataka in addition to existing ROs at Bangalore and Belgaum. The new RO at Mangalore will focus on districts of coastal Karnataka. The proposed Mangalore RO will cover 10 districts with 29 branches with a business of Rs 700 crore. Thirteen branches will be added in these districts during the year," he added.
