Udupi: Illegal Transportation of Liquor – Two Held

Udupi, Aug 5: The excise department officials, who conducted a raid at the local railway station on Thursday August 4, confiscated prohibited liquor worth Rs 16,000 and arrested two persons.

Reportedly, these two men were standing at the vehicle parking area of the railway station with liquor bottles kept in three hand bags. The liquor had been brought from Goa, it is gathered.

The arrested persons have been identified as Prashant Pojary (23) from Savya Hosamane in Beltangady taluk, and Jagadish Achar (33), from Sidakatte, Bantwal. The policemen of excise enforcement and lottery prohibition department had conducted the raid based on reliable information.

Both the arrested were remanded to judicial custody.
