Doha: KSQ organizes Badminton Tournament 2023 for Kannadigas in Qatar

Doha, Aug 13: Karnataka Sangha Qatar has organized a Badminton Tournament on July 28 for the Expatriate Kannadigas residing in Qatar. The event has begun at 9 AM on at Cambridge School, Al Maamoura, Doha, Qatar.

KSQ president Mahesh Gowda and sports secretary ZakirAhamed blew the whistle to start of tournament with judges Girish Bhaskaran, Ajitha Sreevalsan, Mohammed M K and Renu Elizabeth.

The tournament began with spectacular participation of more than hundred badminton players age from 8 to 60 in different categories. In each individual, double and mixed categories, semifinals and final saw nailbiting fight between teams.

The same evening prize distribution ceremony was sent. First secretary of Indian Embassy Sachin Dinkar Shankpal was chief guest of the evening. KSQ president Mahesh Gowda and sports coordinator Zakir was the chief guest along with Indian Sports Centre general secretary Nihad Mohamed Ali to the dais.

The chief guest of the evening, Sachin Dinkar, speaking on the occasion, appreciated KSQ effort towards various programs conducting for members and non-members of the organization.

Winners and runner-ups of the tournament were felicitated with beautiful trophies and certificates. Judges were felicitated with mementos. KSQ Ladies wing coordinator Sanjana Jeevan proposed a vote of thanks.

2. 11-17 Girls Singles:

Winner: Adlyn Mary Sojan
Runner-up: Andriya Mary Sojan

3. Women Singles:

Winner:Lavanya Achar

Runner-up: Manasa Abbur Chandrakanth

4. Women's doubles:

Winner: Neha Shetty and Divya Shree
Runner-up:Reeja Shetty and Anvitha Shetty

5. Men Singles (Age 18-32):

Winner: Pranav Shetty
Runner-up:Ashif K H

6. Men singles (Age 33-45):

Winner: Imran Koteshwara
Runner-up: Rajesh Krishnamurthy

7. Men Doubles (Age 18-32):

Winner: Roshan Shetty and Pranav Shetty
Runner-up:Shreekanth and Anwar

8. Men Doubles (Age 33-45):

Winner: Ashwin K and Imran Koteshwara
Runner-up: Ashraf Kokala and Jagadish

9. Age 46 and above category:

Winner: Dr Ravi Shetty and Antony Carlos
Runner-up: Arun Padmnabhan and Rego Stevan

10. Mixed Doubles:

Winner: Lavanya Achar and Ashraf Kokala
