Udupi, Aug 28: The final rites of Msgr Baptist Menezes, former vicar general of Udupi diocese were held on Sunday August 27 at Our Lady of Health Church at Shirva.

Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop diocese of Udupi celebrated the Holy Eucharistic celebrations. Dr Peter Paul Saldhnha, bishop diocese of Mangaluru Dr Aloysius Paul D'souza, bishop emeritus diocese of Mangaluru Dr Thomas Vallampalli, bishop emeritus diocese of Mysore Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, vicar general diocese of Udupi  Fr Maxim Noronha, vicar general Mangaluru diocese Fr Roshan Menezes, episcopal vicar religious diocese of Udupi Fr Victor George D’Souza, chancellor Mangaluru diocese Fr Roshan Fr Ronald Serrao, rector Jeppu seminary Fr Dr Roshan D’Souza, chancellor diocese of Udupi Fr Leslie Dsouza, parish priest Shirva church and other priests from Udupi and Mangalore diocese were present for the Eucharistic celebrations.

Fr Denis D'Sa, public relation officer diocese of Udupi rendered the eulogy. Leslie Aroza, secretary Udupi diocese parish pastoral committee paid the last respect as part of the diocese.

Fr Richard Coelho, director Fr Muller charitable institutions Mangaluru in his memorial, spoke about the academic and developmental works carried out by Msgr Baptist Menezes during his term of ten years as director of the institution. The director, assistant directors and staff paid their last respects.

Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop diocese of Udupi thanked everyone for their service and for attending the final rites.

Former MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake also visited the church and paid his last respects.

Fr Leslie D’Souza, parish priest Shirva compered the religious programme. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop diocese of Mangaluru rendered the homily.

Priests from Udupi and Mangaluru diocese, parishioners, and well-wishers attended the funeral in large numbers.
