Rural Electrification Corporation's Q1 net profit up 12.70 percent


Mumbai, Aug 10 (IANS) State-run Rural Electrification Corporation Wednesday reported a 12.70 percent increase in its net profit for the current fiscal at Rs.661.96 crore as against Rs.587.36 crore in the like period of 2010-11.

"Company has posted a net profit of Rs.661.96 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 as compared to Rs.587.36 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2010," the company said in a regulatory filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

According to the filing, the total income of the company rose by 23.02 percent in the quarter under review at Rs.2,372.88 crore as compared to Rs.1,928.77 crore in the first quarter of the last fiscal.

The company's scrip in the BSE traded at Rs.193.20 around 2.00 p.m., up 2.93 percent.
