Puttur: Illegal transportation of tree cut from reserve forest – One arrested

Puttur, Sep 5: A team led by Uppinangady zone forest officer arrested an accused who was illegally transporting trees cut from the reserve forest.

Acting on definite tip off that various kinds of tree logs are being transported in a truck, the forest department officials waylaid the truck at Subramanya Cross and confiscated the truck along with the wooden logs.

Jeevan Raj, resident of Panjikar of Bantwal taluk is taken into custody. Zonal forest officer Jayaprakash, deputy zonal forest officer Ravuttappa Biradar, Rekya deputy zonal forest officer Santhosh Tadlagi, Rajesh, Pratap, Ravi and Kishore participated in the operation.
