Bantwal: ICYM Nirkan unit organizes ‘Zanvayek Savaal 2023’ inter-ward quiz competition

Bantwal, Sep 6: ICYM Nirkan unit organised 'Zanvayek Sawal 2023', an inter-ward quiz competition for the parishioners of Nirkan parish on September 3 in Nirkan School Hall.

Fr Leo William Lobo - parish priest; Vincent Bennis - vice president of parish pastoral council; Dn Norman Mathias and Br Jeevan Lobo, quiz masters, St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangaluru; Sweedal Rodrigues - president and Renita Cardoza - secretary of ICYM Nirkan unit were present for the inauguration.

 

Arwin Rancy Fernandes and Henvil Valder invoked God’s blessings on the event by singing a prayer song.

Sweedal Rodrigues - president of ICYM Nirkan unit, offered a floral welcome to the dignitaries and welcomed everyone who had gathered for the event.

Fr Leo William Lobo inaugurated the event and then addressed the gathering thereby wishing the participants all well for the competition.

Ward members of all the 7 wards took part in the competition thereby showcasing their enthusiasm towards the parish initiatives.

Dn Norman Mathias from St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangaluru conducted the competition in two phases. The first phase contained 8 rounds in which subjects such as Bible, litany of Mary, Konkani music, Chandrayan III, trees and their leaves and parish matters were dealt. At the end of the first phase, three teams were eliminated for the second phase. The second phase contained 5 rounds in which subjects such as Konkani language, liturgy, sports, current affairs and portraits of Mary were dealt.

St Joseph ward won the first place whereas St Thomas ward bagged second place in the competition.

Johnson Baretto - joint secretary of ICYM Nirkan unit, conveyed the vote of thanks. Henvil Valder compered the event.
