Mangaluru: Newly constructed classroom at DKZP school in Turvail inaugurated

Mangaluru, Sep 13: The inauguration of a newly constructed classroom of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat model higher primary school and English medium school in Tiruvail was held on September 9.

Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Y Shetty and corporator Hemalatha Raghu Salian inaugurated the classroom.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Bharath Y Shetty said, “It feels so good to see this school. The effort put up by corporator Hemalatha Raghu Salian and her husband Raghu Salian can be seen in the increase of admissions in this school for the past few years.”

Corporator Hemalatha Raghu Salian said, “The school where I have studied was on the verge of closure. Vidya Bodhini Trust, alumni association and other donors have come forward to help the school and revive it. Today, the number of students have increased up to 400 and this school is not less than any other English medium school. On the eve of my husband Raghu Salian’s birthday, one classroom has been constructed. Viveka scheme, MRPL and Lions Club also came forward for the upliftment of the school by helping to set up two classrooms.”

Gangayya Amin, president of Lions Club Kavoor Sathish Shetty, Rajkumar Shetty Tiruvail Gutthu, SDMC president S Praveen, president of alumni association Girish Acharya, headmistress Janet Pinto, Jagadish Shenava, Vidya Bodhini Education Trust general secretary Janardhana Suvarna, resource person Pushpavathi, physical director of the school Gopal U, teacher Mohini, block education officer Ishwar and others were present.
