Udupi: MLA Yashpal Suvarna calls on CM, places various demands for development

Udupi, Sep 13: Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna called on chief minister Siddaramaiah, deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar and district in-charge minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar and submitted a memorandum to them to release a package of Rs 50 crores for Udupi city roads, development of basic facilities and various other works in the district.

Suvarna urged the chief minister to respond positively, quickly and release funds immediately in view of the Paryaya festival for the management of Koosamma Shambhu Shetty Memorial Hospital of mother and children, to set right the dialysis unit in the district hospital, for starting a government medical college, starting of a new fire service station at Manipal and for the development of fisheries projects.

The MLA also requested the chief minister and ministers to participate in the Paryaya festival.

    Mr. Yashpal Suvarna, 1.What about the Traffic Lights in Udupi town that were supposed to be installed and working by this year end? Only the bases are constructed and in place as an eye wash, like every thing else in Karnataka. 2. What about clearing the City Bus Stand area in Udupi town of the Bijapuri Labor market. This is a public place and should always be clean and secure and for the use of people who ride the buses only. Not for labourers by the thousands and drunkards by the 100s! 3.What about clearing the illegal vegetable shop and the illegal eateries opp the City Bus Stand. Why are they allowed to run at the City Bus Stand and without legal permits from the corrupt Uduipi Municipality. 4. What about all the illegal street vendors all over Udupi town, mainly from Bijapur. Why are they only checked and raided as an eye wash by the corrupt Udupi Police once in a blue moon, and not checked and arrested every day. 5.What about Adi Udupi - Karavalli bypass, Traffic light, to ensure smooth flow of traffic. It is such a mess there. 6.What about the Adi Udupi to Malpe Bus Stand main road. Why is this road never refurbished or never maintained. Its the most unsafe road for pedestrians that have no pavement to walk on and for those unruly private buses and fish trucks. These are more urgent and important needs for Udupi and not 50 Crores for B.R. Shettys Hospital and for road works that are carried out by unprofessional petty local contractors who do shoddy jobs, and that is a waste of money.
