Bantwal: Parked truck moves forward, hits van, two women injured

Bantwal, Sep 16: A truck that was parked at Melkar on NH 75 with no driver in it, moved forward and hit a car and two women who were waiting for bus. The mishap occurred on Friday September 15.

Hajra Shama and Khatijatul, who were waiting for bus, were injured. Both fell into the roadside drain due to the impact and were later hospitalized. A van was also damaged in the incident.

Anand Paswan, driver of the truck, which belongs to the contracting company that is handling the highway work, had parked the truck by the side of the road and had gone to a nearby shop.

As he did not apply the handbrake, the vehicle moved forward, hit the van, the women and tilted to one side and came to a halt.

A case in this connection is registered in Bantwal police station.
