Finnair's July Traffic Up 23.9 percent

New Delhi, Aug 16 (IANS): Nordic carrier Finnair Tuesday reported an increase of 23.9 percent in its scheduled traffic in July, mainly as a result of strong demand from the Asian region.

"Business travel demand continued to develop favourably in July, particularly in Asian traffic," said Erno Hilden, chief financial officer, Finnair.

According to Hilden, the airline's overall capacity grew by 14.7 percent during the period under review as demand from Europe to Japan continued to recover.

"In July, our passenger load factors were very close to last year's levels despite the substantial capacity growth. Travel demand from Europe to Japan continued to improve as well," Hilden said.

The airline further reported that its revenues earned per passenger in the period under review grew by 14.6 percent in July propelled by Asian region, specifically the Singapore operations.

The Asian traffic capacity grew close to 30 percent in July. The cargo capacity in July rose by 10.2 percent.
