Mangaluru, Sep 21: The news of a youth, a resident of Manjanadi near Ullal, winning Rs 25 crore in Kerala lottery has gone viral on social media. However, when media contacted the youth, it came to light that some culprits have spread fake news for fun.
The news went viral on social media of Asif from Manjanadi winning Rs 25 crore lottery in the Kerala lottery draw that was held just two days ago.
Asif runs a mobile phone shop in Bengaluru. When he was arriving to Mangaluru in his car on Wednesday, he was getting continuous congratulatory calls. When he asked one of his friends, he told Asif that news is viral on social media that he has won Rs 25 crore lottery. Asif came to know that this is fake news and prank as he did not buy any Kerala lottery ticket at all. Asif says that if he had really won Rs 25 crore, he would have to put his mobile phone on switch off mode and sit in the police station.
Asif’s friend said that these kind of pranks are made viral through WhatsApp link by putting the photo and name of friends. Sometimes, even the photo of those who have actually won Kerala lottery are posted along with those who have not won just to create sensation. It is also said that many such cases have occurred in the district of Dakshina Kannada.
