Mumbai: ‘Suvarna Yuga’ book on the life of Jaya Suvarna by Anita Poojary Takode released

Mumbai, Oct 5: “We will know by the packed audience that Jayanna has found a place in our hearts. We are fortunate to see Jaya Suvarna era. Let us also have the era of Anita who has written the book on Jaya Suvarna,” said Karnataka state minister of primary and high school education, Madhu Bangarappa.

He was speaking after releasing the book on the life of Jaya Suvarna by well known poet, author and research student Anita Poojary Takode at poet Kusumagraja Marathi language auditorium Santacruz east on Saturday afternoon. “Author Anita has given a fitting name of Suvarna Yuga to the book,” said the minister.

The programme was presided over by Mumbai university Kannada department professor and head of the department Dr G N Upadhya. North Mumbai MP Gopal C Shetty inaugurated the programme. The MP set in motion the exhibition of 97 books published by Mumbai university Kannada department earlier.

Rani Abbakka Tulu study centre president Dr Tukaram Poojary, senior litterateur Dr Vishwanath Karnad, Sai Palace hotel group managing director Ravi S Shetty, Karnataka former minister Dr K C Narayana Gowda, Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti founder Thonse Jayakrishna A Shetty, Vishwa Devadiga Mahamandala president Dharmapal U Devadiga, National Billava Mahamandala president Dr Rajashekar R Kotian, Bharath Bank director and Jayasheela trust head Suryakanth Jaya Suvarna and Bharath bank director Bhasker M Salian were on the dais.

The guests felicitated Karnataka Sangha Dombivli president Diwaker Shetty Indrali and well known anchor, artiste Ashok Pakkala. MP Gopala C Shetty, minister Bangarappa and Narayana Gowda felicitated and congratulated author Anita Poojary.

Gopala Shetty said that the achievement of Jaya Suvarna was outstanding. Dr Tukaram said that the pro society thinking of Jaya Suvarna since his young age needs to be identified. Dr Karnad said that Jaya Suvarna was close to us and saw everybody with love. “He remains in the minds of everybody every day. He followed the teachings of Gurunarayana and gave them to the society,” he said. Jayakrishna Shetty said that the life of Jaya Suvarna is a matter of pride for us. Dharmapala Devadiga said that Billavas have come forward under the leadership and far sightedness of Jaya Suvarna. Dr Rajashekar said that the contribution of Janardhan Poojary and Jaya Suvarna to the society should never be forgotten. “Jaya Suvarna was not only an individual but was strength. He was a role model for the youth. I dedicate the felicitation that I received today to all the members,” said Diwaker Shetty.

Ashok Pakkala in response to the felicitation said that he dedicates the honour to his mother.

Dr G N Upadhya in his presidential address said that Jaya Suvarna is a proud idol of all the Tulu Kannadigas. “It is our duty to recollect his contribution. He lighted the lives of many people in Mumbai as their guiding light,” he said.

Suryakanth J Suvarna inaugurated the cultural programme earlier. A film on the life of Jaya Suvarna was shown. Scholarships were distributed to eligible research students of Kannada department in Mumbai university.

Bunts Sangha Mumbai president Chandrahas K Shetty, sons of Jaya Suvarna, Nishita Suryakanth, Subhash J Suvarna, Soumya Subhash, Dinesh J Suvarna, Deepti Dinesh, Yogesh J Suvarna, Deepti Yogesh and family, dignitaries, Padmanabha Poojary Siddakatte and Raksha P Poojary were present.

The programme started after the university anthem. Dr Upadhya welcomed, gave an introduction and honoured the guests. Kannada department guest lecturer Dr Uma Ramarao introduced the ‘Suvarnayuga’ book. Kannada department professor Dr Poornima S Shetty and Billavara Association former president Nityananda D Kotian compered the programme and proposed vote of thanks.
