Udupi: Fire Guts House in Kaup-Padu

Udupi, Aug 22: A woman’s house was gutted in a fire in Kaup gram panchayat, near here, on Sunday August 21.
 
The house of 35-year-old Geetha Poojarti, residing at Kaup - Padu, near here, was gutted in a fire caused by a coconut-oil-fed wick lit at the altar on Sunday morning.

Poojarti was earning her livelihood by rolling ‘bidis.  She had encashed Rs 15,000 from her Provident Fund (PF) on Saturday August 20.  Her mother had passed away a few months ago.  All her belongings were gutted in the fire along with the PF money.
 
Kaup police registered a case in this regard.
