Bengaluru, Oct 15: Former chief minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy on Sunday taunted Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar for remarking that he (HDK) was not a representative of the Income Tax (I-T) Department and wondered why he feels ‘’guilty’’ over the raids on BBMP contractors, in which Rs 42 crore was seized as if the money belonged to him.
In a statement, the JD(S) leader reiterated the charge that the Congress government was ‘’percentage rule’’ and wanted to know why Shivakumar took offence at his comments on the I-T raids.
"I am neither a representative of the I-T Department or ED and I was nor their employee. But as an ordinary citizen, I want to know the source of the money seized,’’ he said.
Kumaraswamy said that he had never claimed that the money seized by I-T Department during the raids belonged to Shivakumar and had not spoken about the Urban Development department.
"I have also not said anything about anybody going to Tihar jail," he said referring to the deputy chief minister’s comments to the media.
However, he said it is evident that Shivakumar knows to whom the money belongs and is afraid of going to Tihar jail as he referred to it on his own.
The former chief minister also challenged both chief minister Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar to order any kind of probe into the money seized from the BBMP contractors and prove that they have nothing to do with the money.
