Koppal, Aug 24: District surgeon, Karaveera Prabhu Kyalakonda, was nabbed by the Lokyukta while accepting bribe, on Tuesday August 23.
Shravanti, wife of Hulugappa Addimani, working as teacher in government high school, Hosalingapura village in the district, had recently undergone surgery at Jayadeva Hospital Bangalore, in connection with her heart-related ailments. For claiming reimbursement of Rs 1,27,484 spent for the purpose, the related bills needed to be attested by the district surgeon. When Hulugappa approached the district surgeon for signatures, he reportedly demanded a bribe of 12 percent of the bill amount.
The teacher negotiated with the surgeon and settled for 11 percent bribe. He thereafter, complained to the Lokayukta. The Lokayukta police arrested Prabhu while accepting bribe from Hulugappa.
