Mangalore: Rainfall Normal, Sunny Weather Most of Wednesday

Mangalore, Aug 25: Most of the places in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts received normal spells of rain separated by large gaps of sunny weather on Wednesday August 24. Subrahmanya in Dakshina Kannada district happened to be the only place in the twin-districts, where rainfall was good.

Rains appeared in several places late in the afternoon and at night. The only report received about loss of property was from Udupi, where Kalavati Shetty from Airody Golikatte in that taluk suffered a loss of about Rs 50,000 because of collapse of a wall of her residence.

Koppal received seven cm of rain, which was highest in the state. The coastal region registered an average rainfall of three cm.

The meteorological department has predicted heavy rains coupled with strong winds touching a velocity of 55 km per hour during the next two days. The fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea during this period.
