Udupi: LANCO, UPCL Distribute Rs 8 lac in Scholarships

Udupi, Aug 27: LANCO Foundation and Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) distributed scholarships to 120 meritorious students of Class VI to II PUC from educational institutions of the surrounding villages in a programme held at Government Higher Primary School, Tenka village, on Wednesday August 24.

S S Sindhia, deputy director, pre-university board, inaugurated the programme and distributed the scholarships to meritorious students. Scholarship amounts of Rs 2,000 were given to students up to Class IX, Rs 10,000 to Class X, and Rs 20,000 to PUC students. The scholarships distributed totalled Rs 8 lac.
Shivaprasad Shetty, alumnus and member of Tenka gram panchayat, presided over the function and urged LANCO to assist dropout students in continuing their education in rural/project-affected areas.


Y N Prakash, headmaster of Tenka School, thanked the LANCO management for distributing scholarships to deserving students.

Sudarshanprasad, senior manager (projects), UPCL, explained the various welfare measures undertaken by UPCL and LANCO Foundation.
Mukundan, senior manager (administration), Sudhir A K, Arun Kamath, and Murali, LANCO Foundation co-ordinators, were also present on the occasion.
