Mangalore: Judicial Custody for Accomplices of Bannanje Raja

Mangalore, Aug 27: Seven persons, who were allegedly involved in murder attempt on Suresh Bhandary of Prithvi Builders near Kadri Park during May this year, and on the cashier of Airody Jewellers Udupi last week, were remanded to 15 days judicial custody on Friday August 26.

These men, who are said to be aides of underworld fugitive, Bannanje Raja, were arrested by the city policemen on Thursday August 25. A team led by Vinay A Gaonkar had arrested Devudas Shetty, Neeraj Srivastava alias Manish Kumar alias Rahul, Ali Hussain, Vinod Kulal, Amit Chaurasia, Rehaj Khan and Puttraswamy from near Kottara Chowki.

On Thursday, they were in police custody. On conclusion of preliminary inquiry, the policemen of Kavoor station presented them in court, upon which the court ordered their judicial remand.

Police sources said that their interrogation has confirmed that these men were involved in both the above shootouts. The department is continuing with investigation into these incidents.
