Mangaluru, Nov 26: "Attitude, belief, confidence, determination efficiency and physical fitness are the true constituents with which anyone can attain success in life", said food industry veteran Dr P Sadananda Maiya, director, Maiyas Restaurants Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru, after inaugurating the Deepavali celebration at the Time Square Ground of Expert PU College, Valachil here.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest Dr Maiya conveyed Deepavali greetings to all and extolled the Expert institutions for imparting the desciplined education and its success story.

The whole campus was beautifully illuminated with colourful hanging lanterns (goodudeepas) and flickering diyas (earthen lamps) for the unique Expert-Deepavali which created an atmosphere filled with divinity. The students and the teachers donned their ethnic attire which added a festive spirit to the celebrations.

The festivity began with Lakshmi pooja and traditional rituals.

Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman, Expert Group of Institutions, honoured the chief guest with a memento and a citation. Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice chairperson, welcomed the guest with a bouquet.

'Kunithabajane ' and other dance performances by the students and staff members mesmerized the audience. Prizes were distributed to the winners of Goodu Deepa, Diya decoration, Art-pyramid making and dance competitions.

The programme culminated with the releasing of numerous sky lanterns which set the night sky ablaze.

Ankush N Nayak, director, Information Technology, Expert PU College, Valachil, Architect, Deepika A Nayak, Dr N K Vijayan Karippal, principal, Expert PU College, Valachil, Raghavendra Shenoy, vice principal (administration), Subramanya Udupa, vice principal (academics), invitees and the staff members were present on the occasion.

Dr Viju Kamath, programme director, proposed a vote of thanks. The students: Krutika Biswas-C2, Vaibhav Naik-F2, Vaishnavi Gowda-B2 and Lekhana-P2 batches welcomed the gathering and compered the programme.
